Absent Souls was made during Covid-19 when my town felt like a ghost town. A grocery store that once held 40 people in it with ease now had six shoppers on a good day. I utilized saran wrap and packing tape to create the shadows of bodies absent due to the virus. These bodies would highlight the spaces where life and joy once occupied. The friend you would run into downtown, the child playing at the park, or the neighbour walking over to say hi. Now nowhere to be seen, hidden away in their homes to try and keep the world safe. This experience was incredibly isolating, and at times people felt like they were ghosts, left with only a shell of themselves.
